Sea of Dreams

about

"Sea of Dreams" is dedicated to our beloved band mate Joshua Ogzewalla. His days on this beautiful earth are limited--his ship is sailing to a distant shore--and he has requested that a scholarship be created in his name that provides private instrument and vocal training to young performers.

100% of all income (after processing fees) from this track goes to the Joshua Ogzewalla Music Scholarship.

Available exclusively on Bandcamp.

"I'm standing upon that foreshore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails in the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and the sky come down to mingle with each other.

Then someone at my side says, 'There! She's gone!'

'Gone where?'

'Gone from my sight, that's all. She's just as large in mast and spar and hull as ever she was when she left my side; just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.'

And just at that moment when someone at my side says, 'There! she's gone!' there are other eyes watching her coming and other voices ready to take up the glad shout, 'Here she comes!'"

- Victor Hugo, from Toilers of the Sea

lyrics

Standing here on the shore
Staring out to the sea
In and out of the clouds and fog
That hide the stars from me
Try to hide from the cold
I’m always hiding somewhere
The ship that sails the sea of dreams
It carries me from there

Transcending time and space I ride
To free myself I chase the tide

Although the daytime skies are grey
I’ll find my way
To all the places I adore
You can be sure
Calm all the storms and dark of fear
Then disappear
Far out into the sea where there’s no place for gravity to hold

I was lost in the dark
With nothing there to be seen
Like a bursting dawn
A light revealed a sea of green
Dancing on the water
The horizon’s anew
Looking back at the shadows
That are fading out of view

Transcending all I’ve left behind
To find what’s on the other side
Aboard my ship I’ll sail tonight

Although the daytime skies are grey
I’ll find my way
To all the places I adore
You can be sure
Calm all the storms and dark of fear
Then disappear
Far out into the sea where there’s no place for gravity to hold
